Picture a leadership development company dedicated to enhancing the way Global 5000 companies recruit, retain, and develop leaders by focusing on identifying the root causes of emotion, motivation and behavior. That’s Perceptual Intelligence® (PI): a smarter way to lead.
By partnering with executive coaches like Lance Tanaka of the Lance Tanaka Group, PI delivers a profound and powerful leadership strategy for immediate and extensive results to develop front-line leaders and fix dysfunction, drama, and cultural challenges in the workplace.
As Perceptual Intelligence® began to grow their business, they needed a CRM that could manage the changes, while maintaining strong client relationships. That’s how they found Copper – and this is their story…
Searching for the right CRM solution
Perceptual Intelligence® was on a quest for a CRM that could handle their diverse needs. They needed a system that could manage clients and projects, easily onboard executive coach partners, and one that could integrate seamlessly with Google tools.
After researching various CRM systems — including pricing and packages — Erik Van Alstine, PI’s Founder, chose Copper CRM because it checked all the right boxes:
Seamless Google integration: Quick email syncing and communication tracking
Customizable Pipelines: Tailored to manage client relationships and executive coach onboarding.
User-friendly interface: Easy to use without the complexity of larger CRM systems.
Copper proved to be the right match, providing the tools and integrations PI needed to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and grow their relationships with clients and coaches.
Implementing Copper in their day-to-day
Once the team got started with Copper they hit the ground running using it in their daily operations. PI embraced Copper for its powerful features and integration with their existing tools. Currently, the team is using the following platform features:
1. Integration with Google
One of the standout features for PI is Copper's integration with Google. This makes syncing and managing emails a breeze, helping the team keep track of all their email communications, files, calendar events, and each engagement opportunity related to people and organizations in the database. They also started tracking their LinkedIn outreach via Copper’s integration with Surfe. For PI, it’s also not just about keeping tabs on conversations, it’s about learning how they’re communicating with customers to refine their strategies in real time.
Currently, the team uses Copper every day. This includes Kevin, the Global Director of Client Engagement, the CEO, who is focused on business development; and Erik Van Alstine, PI’s Founder. They meticulously document all forms of communication, including phone calls and lunch meetings, ensuring that every interaction is recorded and accessible.
2. Organization of all contacts, records, and projects
Every day, the team at Perceptual Intelligence® relies on Copper to keep their data up to date and operations running smoothly:
The team praises the activity feed as their go-to for quick updates on all communications between clients and team members.
They rely on the People List using the filters to manage contacts and their opportunities. They often use the Board view but can easily switch to the List view to rearrange data in a way that works best for them. Kevin especially enjoys the Pipeline and People components, where a quick click on someone brings up a handy sidebar to make notes, write emails, or attach documents without losing sight of the main view.
The detailed activity log on Pipelines, People and Company records is essential for accessing up to date info relevant to their engagements.
3. Optimizing Copper Pipelines for success
As Kevin explains, Perceptual Intelligence® has customized several pipelines to fit their unique business needs.
They’ve set up a sales pipeline to track prospects, using filters to keep leads organized and prioritized.
Once an opportunity is finished in the sales pipeline, the PI team moves the customer into a pipeline that focuses on client engagements, like Automatic Influence, the first course in the Perceptual Intelligence® Series.
With Copper CRM's new feature that lets users duplicate pipeline records quickly and easily, managing projects for PI is much easier and more efficient. Now, they can effortlessly replicate engagements across different pipelines, whether it's for the Automatic Influence course, follow-ups, executive coach recruitment, or media marketing.
HR onboarding opportunities are also managed within a pipeline, thanks to linked records that keep everything streamlined.
Seeing efficiency grow in their business
Since adopting Copper CRM, Perceptual Intelligence® has experienced wonderful customer service. Their daily workflows are now better and more efficient with enhanced communication tracking that keeps everyone on the same page. The customizable pipelines and seamless integration features have made managing data easier.
These changes have led to impressive results with key performance indicators showing increased efficiency and a more organized structure as their business grows.
Looking ahead, they plan to expand their use of Copper CRM even further by considering giving executive coaches access to Copper to streamline their activities and make collaboration even easier. PI is also exploring new integrations, like Zapier, to enhance functionality.
